Between founding a company, house sitting, and first client projects

The last few weeks have been intense. We gave notice on our apartment, and I had my last day at my previous employer. As of 1 September 2026, I'm officially unemployed — or rather, self-employed.

At the same time, I'm still in the middle of founding the company. There's a lot that's new, things I get to learn or simply have to learn. Right now I'm dealing with AHV, company registration, insurance, and all the other pieces that come with it. It's interesting, but it's also yet another thing on top of everything else.

Now, in the second week of September, I'm glad things are slowly getting quieter again. We're house sitting in Biel. Since we no longer have a permanent place, we're looking after a cat here and can stay for free. In return we take care of the house, the garden, and the plants. That's an interesting experience too, and something we've never done before.

Meanwhile our podcast keeps going, of course. We've already published ten episodes, and the next ones are already planned. It's going really well. We keep having interesting guests, we learn a lot from them, and we meet new people at the same time. Our goal is also to inspire others a little with these stories.

For Tech Ninjas we also had professional videos and photos produced for our own presence. The result looks really cool.

And then we won our first larger client project. It's about a complete overhaul of an online shop. It has barely been maintained over the years, a lot of it is outdated, and Google currently isn't indexing it properly. So it's practically impossible to find.

We're now looking at everything closely, bringing the shop up to date, and making sure it runs cleanly again and gets indexed by Google. We'll also be optimizing the product pages. Definitely a cool, interesting project for a somewhat larger client.

There are also two smaller projects running. One is a new website, the other is about improving visibility.

I think that's roughly where things stand. Mid to late October we'd like to go abroad and spend part of the winter somewhere warm. Here in Switzerland it's slowly getting colder again. Temperatures are dropping, but right now it's still pleasant and sunny almost every day.

Until we leave, we're enjoying a bit more of late summer and the start of autumn in Switzerland.
